Jim joined The Burks Companies, Inc. in August 2009 as Vice President for Operations (Maintenance and MEP Facilities Management Services) in the Northeast and was recently promoted to Senior Vice President, Operations. He has over twenty-eight (28) years experience in the field of Facilities Operations, Engineering and Maintenance associated with hospitals, mission critical data centers, pharmaceutical plants, specialty chemicals plants, fossil plants and nuclear power plants.
Prior to joining TBC, Inc., Jim spent three (3) years as Director of Facilities Operations for the New York Public Library systems responsible for the direct day-to-day management and responsibility for all MEP Facilities Services and Cleaning Operations of 90 Branch and Research Library buildings. Jim spent eight (8) years as Regional Vice President for a facilities engineering Services Company with overall responsibilities for facilities operations and maintenance, value engineering, infrastructure capital improvements and working on all phases of new design and state of the art facilities start-up. In this capacity, he managed over 550 FTE’s consisting of: 1st and 2nd tier managers, supervisors, boiler operators, mechanics, plumbers, carpenters, masons, electricians, HVAC technicians, mechanics, painters and front-line managers. Jim also spearheaded many supervisory training seminars for future company leaders.
Jim’s other areas of work experience includes: Director of Facilities Operations at the 2.1 MSF downtown campus of The New York Presbyterian Hospital where he spearheaded real "re-engineering" of the Facilities Operations and led the Facilities Department through three (3) JACHO Facilities EOC audits; Manager of Environment Support Systems for SIAC, a mission critical data center serving real-time data processing of the NYSE, AMEX and DTC; and as a Nuclear Electrical Engineer for a major northeast utility company in the nuclear power plant design, start-up and Quality Assurance licensing procedure.
Jim has a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) degree from The City College of New York (CCNY) in the City University of New York (CUNY) that was obtained in 1981.
